LACTIN (CAPSULES)

Lactation is the period during which child sucks mother's breast. Increased estrogen, progesterone, human placental lactogen and insulin all act to augment prenatal breast growth. Post partum decreasing level of these harmones and high level of circulating prolactin help to initiate milk production. Sucking is important for production of milk probably via release of oxytocin and contraction of myoepithelial cells of alveoli. Prolactin level then decreases over the ensuing several weeks and returns to non pregnant level by 3-4 months post partum.milk production is sustained after 4 month post partum by an unclear hypothalamic pituitary alveoli tactile response pathway. Milk is gathered in very small vessels, in breast. These unite together to form bundles not bigger than pinhead. These pinhead vessels unite to form lobules and lobules to form ampulla. Ampulla acts as reservoirs of milk. Milk is ejected out through small ducts in nipple.
Lactin is a compound formation of herbs that help in: -

* Galactogenesis- initiation of milk secretion.
* Lactogenesis - stimulation of established lactation.
* Galoctokinesis -maintenance of milk secretion.

Composition:

Each capsule contains extract of
Asparagus Racemosus 250 mg
Pueraria Tuberosa 100 mg
Leptadenia Reticulata 50 mg

Asparagus Racemosus is an effective galactogogue. It is nutritive and is widely used to promote lactation in nursing mothers.

Pueraria Tuberosa increases serum prolactin level and thereby increases lactation.

Leptidenia Reticulata improves stimulates optimum of breast milk.
Indication:

* Lactating and nursing mothers
* Deficient lactation
* Irregular lactation
* Absence of lactation

Advantages of breast feeding-

An immunolgic advantage of breast milk exists through its ability to provide immunoglobins (primarily IgA but also IgG and IgM to certain extent),lactoferrin and lysozymes .Nutritionally breast milk provides an amino acid composition easily digested by neonates and enables a higher absorption of iron than commercial preparation.

Dosage: One capsule twice daily before meals with milk.
